A man has died after the van he was driving reportedly veered off the road and crashed down an embankment.

The 79-year-old from Pomona died in hospital after the single-vehicle crash at Ironpot near Rockhampton on January 16.

Police and emergency services were called to Yeppoon Road at about 10.45am, following reports a white Volkswagen Transporter van had gone off the road and into a ditch.

The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was transported to hospital where he died the following day.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.

Anyone with information or relevant vision that can assist investigations is urged to contact police.
