A McDonald’s restaurant beside a busy main road is being upgraded, to enhance the customer experience and improve operational efficiencies.
McDonald’s on Nicklin Way, Minyama, will have a new terrace, dining room and dedicated partner delivery room, as well as a newly positioned front counter and McCafe.
The restaurant will remain open with minimal disruptions during the renovations, which are expected to be completed by the middle of the year.
The restaurant is owned and operated by Tim Banks, who joined McDonald’s as a licensee more than 30 years ago.
He employs more than 570 people across four restaurants in the Sunshine Coast region: Caloundra, Currimundi, Glass House Mountains and Minyama. His son Louis is also the licensee for McDonald’s Baringa.
“We are excited to start construction on our local restaurant in Minyama, injecting over $1.9 million into the local economy and creating over 60 jobs for local construction workers,” Mr Banks said.

“Reinvestment is an important part of our ongoing commitment to providing customers with the best possible experience when they visit our restaurants.
“It also allows us to create new jobs for members of the local community, through expanding our operational capabilities to allow us to provide quicker and more efficient service for our customers.
“We appreciate our customers’ patience over the coming months and look forward to welcoming them to the newly refurbished McDonald’s Minyama, serving up our great-quality, great-tasting menu.”

The Minyama McDonald’s, which is on a 2795sqm site, was sold for $7.1 million in 2021.
The nearby McDonald’s at Kawana Shoppingworld closed permanently in late 2022.
Mr Banks said McDonald’s Minyama supports groups such as Kawana Junior Rugby League Club, Ronald McDonald House Charities and Sunshine Coast Phoenix, and provides jobs, training and development opportunities to the local community.
