Community members have been invited to help shape the future of a local park.
Wilkins Park at Pacific Paradise already has a skate park, basketball half-court, playground and mature trees, but Councillor Taylor Bunnag said the area was due for a makeover.
Locals will help with the revamp by providing suggestions to council.
“To ensure any future upgrades align with what community needs and council’s guidelines, we are engaging with residents to gather ideas and develop a concept plan,” Cr Bunnag said.
“We want to hear from you about how you use the park and seek your opinion on what improvements might be possible in the future.
“There’s a range of ways you can get involved between March 3 and March 28. You can complete an online survey and contribute to our online ideas board, where you can suggest improvements, comment on other ideas and help shape the vision for the park.

“You can also join us at a community pop-up event to chat with the project team and join in some fun activities.
“This is another great way we’re connecting and engaging with our communities to build a better future for everyone.”
Wilkins Park is a designated Local Recreation Park (LRP), which is expected to provide open space that complements residential backyards and supports community connection.
LRPs typically include seating, pathways, trees, small play areas and open kick and throw spaces. They do not generally have public toilets, barbecues or car parks.

The improvements will need to align with the Sunshine Coast Recreation Parks Plan, which balances recreation, nature and accessibility.
Once the engagement period closes, council will review all feedback to identify key themes and priorities and develop a draft concept plan informed by this community input. It will share the draft plan with the community for further feedback before finalising it. The final concept plan will guide future improvements and funding opportunities for Wilkins Park.
Council said there was currently no funding allocated for construction but the concept plan will guide potential future investment and staged improvements over time.

“Your input is crucial in shaping a park that meets the needs of our community so we can explore future investment opportunities,” Cr Bunnag said.
Community pop-up events will be held at the park on Wednesday, March 19, from 3.30-5pm event and on Saturday, March 22, from 9-11am.
