Police have arrested two people after tracking an allegedly stolen car for at least 40km on the Sunshine Coast.

Police spotted the Toyota Corolla travelling on the Bruce Highway in the Nambour area about 7.30am on Thursday.

With the assistance of Polair, they tracked the vehicle to a shopping centre car park on Poinciana Avenue, Tewantin.

A man and a woman, who were allegedly the driver and passenger in the vehicle, were arrested at the scene.

Investigations are ongoing. No further details were available.
