Interesting plan to bolt on a bus service to the train line.

Many will see this as a cost-cutting exercise. However, those of us who have spent time on Paris’ famous Le Onde public transport system will know that this is all part of Rosanna’s vision.

When seamless transport systems cost too much, use Velcro.

Tom Fitzpatrick, Buderim

I thought we were hoping to get a train line into this part of the world? Now buses will have to take up the slack as it’s too expensive or something like that. The traffic now is gridlocked in peak hour, then add 17,000 people in to the mix. That’s going to completely shut down the transport system.

Let’s face it, all these projects are not thought out properly or not completed. They backed out of providing the planned transport corridor to the CBD, which was supposed to link up to the motorway. Are they just always trying to get re-elected?

Allan Swinton

It was obvious as far back as 2010 that a breakthrough on Bribie Island was possible.

For 12 years no action was taken. A few large sandbags, similar to those on the Golden Beach foreshore, would have prevented the breakthrough.

When it finally occurred in 2022 there was still time to take action while the breakthrough was just a few metres wide. So what happened? Absolutely nothing.

So now there is a lot of bleating and breast-beating about a problem that should never have occurred.

Where were our leaders then?

Ron Duggleby, Little Mountain

I’m surprised this was approved by council. A number of residents are extremely unhappy with this development.

Will the existing shops be staying or relocating to another area, as I imagine the rent will be higher in the new complex.

Sharyn

I think the approval is good but what happened to Noosa Council’s STA (short-term accommodation) ruling that new property could not be unless it was previously an STA?

That is disappointing but it is all about money with this council.

Sarah, Noosaville

On the surface it doesn’t make sense. First of all ‘western alternative’ is a red herring title when you are directing heavy traffic through to the Bruce Highway. Steve Irwin Way starts and ends at the Bruce and is a north and south feeder.

Old Gympie Road has road easement reserve from the D’Aguilar Highway at Caboolure through to Landsborough. Using the Old Gympie Road doesn’t need resumption of properties and it takes pressures off existing communities, infrastructure and roads, and it already exists. It will need to be widened, upgraded and/or completed but that’s expected when you plomp 70,000 homes in Waraba. But it won’t require resumptions or more disruptions to the current residents, farms and communities along Beerburrum Road and Steve Irwin Way.

Waraba is on the D’Aguilar. It joins Old Gympie, which has multiple feeders to the M1 north and southbound. Old Gympie also has feeders joining on to Steve Irwin Way at Peachester, Beerburrum, Glass House Mountains, Beerwah and Landsborough. It is obvious it would take pressure off Steve Irwin Way between Beerburrum and Landsborough.

This stage four alternative seriously needs a rethink.

Kelvin Mickelson, Glass House Mountains

Why didn’t Andrew Wallace lobby the Labor government for help and not wait until the next election. Talk about trying to win votes.

He’s really done nothing until the new election and then he’s warning us that nothing will change again because he won’t do anything if his party isn’t in power.

LNP only cares about the cities down south.

Bazza, Currimundi

A quick take on the budget shows GDP growth is predicted to be 2.5 per cent to 2.75 per cent, unemployment 4.25 per cent, inflation 2.5 per cent and wages up 3.25 per cent.

Now wonder the IMF has placed Australia at second in the world for budget management. All down to the diligent and responsible economic management by Jim Chalmers and the rest of the Albanese Labor government.

Robyn Deane, Nambour

Park fees have increased but the parks haven’t.

I’ve been going to Cotton Tree caravan park over the years and can’t see why the increase.

It’s far cheaper and just as good south at Evans Head.

Warren Strange, Upper Coomera

Council has a lack of vision. They should convert this to an annual event, bring in suppliers of remote control planes and hobbyists and create a fun day out for the family: kids and big kids who enjoy these toys.

You could invite recreational flying businesses from around the Sunshine Coast who are keen to meet with eager young pilots looking to get their wings and so on, but not taking it away from the remote controllers. There is massive opportunity to make it big – sort of a mini air show.

Jeremy Buultjens, Mountain Creek

What is the true agenda of those signing the petition with words like “Vital for the safety of passive watercraft such as kayaks and paddle boards” and “Marine species such as critically endangered dugongs, turtles and dolphins will benefit by being allowed more time to avoid speeding watercraft” and “This speed reduction will also reduce noise pollution.”

Like many other families, we sensibly use the designated area in the passage for water skiing (20-35 knots).

Please consider all implications before jumping to conclusions and radical suggestions.

Jim Brown, Caloundra

A worthy and overdue project that Tewantin sorely needs.

Apart from the RSL Club, the lack of classy entertainment venues in our lovely village is a travesty. Locals have to travel to tourist areas like Hastings Street, Gympie Terrace and, as a last resort, Noosa Junction, to have a civilised meal or drink. Bring it on.

Michael Hancock, Noosa North Shore

Why refer to it as an 1880s hotel? There may have been a hotel on that site in 1880 but it sure ain’t this one.

Tony Flanagan, Noosaville
