A popular children’s playground is off-limits going into the school holidays following the recent big wet.
The Hinterland Adventure Playground in Marara Street, Cooroy, was partially closed in February for pond surface works, when ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred created complications.
Following the cyclone and heavy rain, the park needed to be cleaned up but was too wet for the work to be carried out.
Softfall was also damaged and the water play area needed to be cleaned and checked.
A Noosa Council spokesman said equipment issues, resourcing and the complex work required to clean up a large park area had combined to cause delays.

The council has apologised for the park’s closure.
”It is unfortunate but we are trying to get it sorted quickly,” a spokesperson said.
The council has referred families to a list of school holiday activities on its website and a list of other parks in the shire in the meantime.
The $4 million playground on the site of Cooroy’s old sawmill has presented some maintenance issues since it opened three years ago.
The council had to replace the metal slide last year. Fence panels and gates worth about $10,000 were stolen in 2023.
