An innovative Sunshine Coast businessman has shared his story of grit to inspire the next generation of local entrepreneurs.
GreaseBoss co-founder and CEO Tim Hall was last month recognised as one of the state’s finest up-and-coming business leaders, at the 40 Under 40 Awards in Brisbane.
“It’s a bit surreal, to be honest. I didn’t expect to get through when I was filling out the application,” he said.
“But I hope it can help further raise the profile of GreaseBoss and help people recognise that we are doing something special and unique on the Sunshine Coast.”
Mr Hall was proud to run his business, alongside co-founder and CTO Peter Condoleon and their team, on the Sunshine Coast, a region he said was gaining attention as a strong, innovative business eco-system.
“I have been asked by interstate businesses why there is so much innovation coming from our region, and I think we are really lucky to be in a forward-thinking and supportive region with hard-working (commerce) chambers and a proactive local and Queensland government,” he said.
“What I’ve seen on the Coast is a great sense of community where people doing great things come together, meet at regular events, like through the Caloundra Chamber (of Commerce), and help each other form a great support network.”

Founded in 2020, GreaseBoss has gone from strength to strength, and now has an international customer base for its digitised grease gun.
As a simple lubrication management system, GreaseBoss prevents equipment failure and reduces maintenance costs. It is used by one of the world’s largest globally diversified natural resource companies, Glencore.
Mr Hall said GreaseBoss was in an exciting period of growth, but his journey included a “slog of hard work and sacrifices”, well before the business was launched.
He said he wanted to share his story of grit to encourage other early entrepreneurs.
“Never give up,” he said.
“You’ll have failures, and you need to wear them and learn from them, but don’t let that set you back from trying again and doing something different and trying to achieve your dreams.”

Mr Hall was one of two members of the Caloundra Chamber of Commerce to be included in Solstice Media’s 40 Under 40 Awards, which is a globally recognised program that celebrates the impact of the finest young Queensland leaders and entrepreneurs.
Nathan Schokker was also acknowledged, for his work in developing SafeCo, SafeVisit, SafeTicket, MODC, LuckyDoor and Wave.
Meanwhile, Coolum’s Ami Bateman was recognised as the co-founder of cleaning products business Pleasant State.
