A new three-level hotel, seven years in the making, has an official opening date.
The Bli Bli Hotel, in the heart of Bli Bli, will welcome the public from Monday, October 30.
The $32 million venue is a joint initiative of developers Roz and Michael White, and hoteliers Scott Armstrong and Richard Deery.
Mr Armstrong said they were thrilled to bring the hotel to life.
“After seven years working on the project with a few lengthy delays due to COVID and post-COVID recovery, we are really excited that the Bli Bli Hotel is approaching its opening date,” he said.
“We are really proud of this beautiful venue and all that it will offer to the local Sunshine Coast community.”
Mr Armstrong said the hotel boasted an array of features that would deliver “attentive hospitality across three levels.”
“(It has) a rooftop terrace with a retractable roof, to let in the sunshine or for people to view the stars, a dedicated ground floor gaming lounge. which is separated from the rest of the hospitality offerings, and a state-of-the-art live grill in the kitchen.”
He said the hotel and the increasingly popular riverside town were a great fit.
“Bli Bli has experienced significant growth over the past five years with more growth to come,” he said.
“The suburb and immediate surrounding areas did not have a local hotel to enjoy.
“Our demographic is a good mix of young singles, families and retirees which will see the hotel patronised at all times of the day into the night.”
The hotel bistro will include an eclectic menu, inspired by Australian flavours and using ingredients from local suppliers.
Mr Armstrong has been involved in the development of several taverns and hotels in the region, but he was particularly excited by this venture.
“Bli Bli Hotel is our first hotel property to open under our new company rebrand – Maeva Hospitality,” he said.
The family-owned business was formerly known as Sunshine Coast Hotels.
“We are really excited to start welcoming locals and visitors to our latest hospitality venue,” he said.
The hotel was initially expected to be built by last year, but Mr White told Sunshine Coast News in January there was a delay caused by labour shortages and building material availability”.
The hotel was designed by Sprout Architects and constructed by Evans Built.
