A stunning Sunshine Beach abode that attracted the attention of hundreds of thousands of people has been sold for a king’s ransom.
No.26 McAnally Drive, known as ‘Azure’, changed hands for $13.5 million at auction on Saturday, November 4.
The sale price shattered the record for a non-beachfront property in an area that is renowned for its bevy of rich and famous residents.
The 653sqm home has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and two car spaces. It is set one street back from the foreshore and boasts 180-degree views to sea.
Tom Offermann Real Estate said it was standing room only at the auction, where multiple parties battled for the keys to the house.

The bidding started at $10 million and reached $13.5 million before the gavel fell. The agency said the sale was the culmination of an advertising campaign that generated interest from around the world, with “hundreds of thousands of people tuning in” to view the property online.
Mr Offermann said many of the people who were genuinely interested in buying the residence were known to the agency.
“The response to the advertising was phenomenal, however in the end most of the (prospective) buyers were existing customers, many who we have known for years,” he said.
“With every new property that we sell we meet some new clients, so you can imagine how many clients we have after 30 years of leading the market in Noosa.
“It’s superbly valuable for sellers to know that we already have a lot of the likely buyers in our client base, who we can just pick up the phone to.”
Mr Offermann did not reveal details of the sellers or owners.
The elegant and eye-catching home, with full concrete construction, was designed by award-winning Chris Clout Design.
Some of its features include an 11m infinity edge pool, Italian Carrara marble floors, a ‘floating’ marble staircase, an Italian glass tear-drop chandelier, an eco-fireplace, imported designer lighting, tactile Venetian wall plaster, a media room and a leisure space.
All bathrooms have lustre mosaic tiles and Italian Gessi taps.
The real estate listing lauded the “indulgent” property’s sweeping views of the Coral Sea and said the home resembled a magnificent sand dune.
“The inspired residence embraces and advances the idyllic sub-tropical vernacular as well as living la vida luxe with those unsurpassed, never-to-be-interrupted views,” it said.
Mr Offermann said, via the listing, that the property was dreamlike.
“This is the ultimate beachside sanctuary … (you) feel like you’re floating on a cloud in absolute paradise,” he said.
“Azure is the aspiration of many, yet rarely available.”
He also said Sunshine Beach was “considered the Holy Grail by many”.
The previous suburb record price for a non-beachfront home was for No.20 Maher Terrace, a 527sqm, five-bedroom property was sold for $9.1 million last year.
