A tightly held parcel of land that once hosted the World Wakeboard Association Championships has splashed on the property market.

Built in the early 1980s and featuring its own waterskiing park, the opportunity is said to have “outstanding potential” combining semi-rural living at a central Sunshine Coast location.

A neighbouring lot is also on the market, offering the chance to bank some of the largest privately owned sites at Chevallum, with a combined 74.73 hectares.

Lot 2, 1 Leafy Lane, Chevallum is owned by Bob and Kathy Marshall, who are now retired and well known on the Sunshine Coast for their charity work.

The property is famous for its three man-made lakes, campgrounds, birdlife and wildlife.

In 2005, known at the time as Marshall’s Lagoon, the site was home to the World Wakeboard Association Championships and attracted some of the globe’s best to compete on the water.

Today, as Marshall Ski Lakes and Campgrounds, it appeals to water sport and outdoor enthusiasts and families.

Lot 2 and Lot 7 at 1 Leafy Lane, Chevallum.

The 52.4-hectare site is being described as an “iconic” and “rare” land holding.

Selling agent Kerry-Anne Crowley from Amber Werchon Property said land holdings of this size were rare, particularly so close to major amenities and services including the Bruce Highway.

“It’s a very unique block, but an iconic block. Everyone knows Marshall Lakes for its skiing,” she said.

“It’s quite a prominent icon in the area and hopefully it will attract someone who wants to do something pretty special there.

“It has been used as a camping ground for many, many years for family camping and jet skiers. Its wildlife is amazing too.

“There is the main family home, a lovely big family home that the Marshalls built. There is another house that they built down near the lake for the family to use down there.”

The double-storey family home includes four bedrooms and three bathrooms, plus there is a separate caretaker’s cottage on site.

The land is zoned rural and is also approved as a nature-based camping site.

Ms Crowley said, subject to council approval, there was also potential to develop the site for ecotourism, short-term accommodation and leisure activities.

The neighbouring property, Lot 7, is a 22.33-hectare parcel and Ms Crowley said it was currently home to a storage facility that rented out space.
