Much like its crop of 11,000 pineapples, hard work is bearing fruit for luxury farmstay Sixty6 Acres.

The Woombye attraction, which opened last year to much interest and fanfare, is now preparing to introduce a new recreation hub, 25m pool and caravan accommodation in early 2025.

The latest additions will increase overnight capacity to more than 200 and provide a wider range of facilities and price points for overnight guests.

Sixty6 Acres currently offers two- and three-bedroom accommodation options as well as interactions with miniature farm animals, a lake, water activities and a focus on the region’s rich agricultural history.

Owners Andrew and Jo Pitcher said they had received five-star reviews of the country-luxe accommodation from local, interstate and international visitors since opening last year.

“The first stage of our improvements will commence in February with minor flood mitigation earthworks, followed mid-year by road upgrades, a wastewater treatment plant and landscaping and facilities for 95 caravan and RV powered sites, which will be more generously proportioned than most,” Andrew said.

A 25m pool is among the new additions to the farmstay.

“We’ve had lots of inquiry for group bookings for family reunions, milestone birthdays and even yoga or corporate retreats, so we feel the new recreation hub will provide the space to accommodate these larger gatherings for overnight guests.”

The Pitchers said that following the original council approval in 2022, they were proceeding with some caution and recognised that economic conditions were difficult for businesses and guests alike.

“Based on feedback from guests, we are fine-tuning our plans with council, which will still maintain a firm focus on farmstay offerings and animal interactions,” Andrew said.

“We are very conscious of not diminishing what Sixty6 Acres is all about – guests love the luxury aspect of what we have created, the space to rest and recharge in nature, and the proximity to explore our coastal country location. Kids can run around and have a real hands-on farm experience, leaving parents to enjoy the wood-burning fireplaces or a soak in the freestanding baths.”

The farmstay also offers agritourism opportunities, with strawberries, mulberries and blueberries alongside citrus, ginger, coffee, pineapples and the sugar cane that the Coast was once famous for. Guests are encouraged to harvest their own produce when in season.

Current rates for The Acreage, which has three bedrooms and sleeps six, start from $600 a night, while The Quarters, which have two bedrooms and sleeps four, start from $450 a night (rates subject to availability, conditions apply).

The caravan and RV powered sites will be ready to launch in early 2025. Council approvals still remain for a further 19 glamping tents and 14 cabins, which will be delivered at a future stage.
