Library Lovers – Rachael Johns: Sunshine Coast Libraries invite avid romance readers to meet Rachael Johns, the award-winning Australian romance author, in conversation about her new book The Other Bridget. Johns is known for bestsellers such as The Patterson Girls and Something to Talk About. She is Australia’s leading writer of contemporary relationship stories about women’s issues – a genre she has called ‘life-lit’. Library Lovers – Singalong: Sweet treats, social singing and romance writing are among the highlights of a week of activities that celebrate Sunshine Coast Libraries – and you are invited to join in. Experience the joy of social singing with Jen Young, from the Sunshine Coast Show Choir. Master the tune, learn the words and harmonise in a love-themed group singalong. No singing experience is needed, and everyone is encouraged to head along. The Enchanted Drive: Caloundra Regional Gallery, in collaboration with Sunshine Coast Libraries presents the next exhibition for the Maroochydore Library Artspace. Toni Rea’s series The Enchanted Drive: Landscape in Motion is inspired by driving through the Glass House Mountains or the Daki, as it is known by the Gubbi Gubbi people. This abstract painting series is a response to the disorientation caused by motion, with strobe sunlight through the broken tree canopy, bleached-out noon forms, inclines and falls of the landscape juxtaposed against horizons that appear and disappear.
