Gym owner Jamie Milne has successfully set a new world record by completing more than 1000 push-ups in an hour.

Already the holder of multiple world records, the owner of Jamie Milne Training at Warana was aiming to beat the previous record of 884 by completing “an even thousand”.

But Mr Milne, 45, went above and beyond, reaching 1014 push-ups in the 60 minutes at the Old Church Nambour, which provides accommodation for at-risk children, on Saturday.

He said he was motivated by the continued desire to raise $50,000 for Inclusive Kids at Maroochydore.

“(I wanted to) shine a light on the great work they do for the thousands of kids on the Coast living below the poverty line,” he said.

But he said achieving the record was no easy feat.

“In complete honesty, the first seven minutes the cramps started unusually,” he said.

“We put it down to the busy work week and pressure, and with great support from the team, we adapted and innovated a new approach on the fly.”

Mr Milne was feeling the struggle afterwards as well, saying he felt like “brushing my teeth or combing my hair would be a world record attempt”.

The push-up event alone raised $3500 for Inclusive Kids, on top of $20,000 Mr Milne has raised through prior events.

“A massive thank you to everyone that supported our journey, and tickets are available for the Rob Brough-directed documentary called One Chance, based off the world record journey and Inclusive Kids Maroochydore, at Kawana Event Cinemas,” he said.

Inclusive Kids aims to provide funds that will help create better inclusion into community life for children that would otherwise be isolated through poverty, family breakdown, disability or severe illness.

“The money Jamie was able to raise was critical to the establishment of the Inclusive Kids food program, which keeps kids fed and engaged in schools,” Integrated Family and Youth Service marketing manager Paul Morton said.

Mr Milne’s last tilt at a world record, in November, finished with him narrowly missing the title for most burpees in an eight-hour period, but he raised $15,000 for struggling Sunshine Coast kids.

He attempted the gruelling Blackall 100 in under 20 hours with 20kg on his back in 2022, and in 2021, with Russell Stringer, he attempted to exceed the excruciating Murph workout record of 19.75 rounds in 24 hours.

In August 2020 he successfully broke the world record for the most double-under skips in 12 hours, completing 22,222.

As for his next challenge, Mr Milne shared this teaser with Sunshine Coast News.

“Ever heard of someone climbing Mount Coolum 50 times in a row? Watch this space,” he said.
