Poor weather conditions have resulted in few catches over the past week. With more rain and wind predicted for the coming week, it’s looking like another quiet week on the water.
Offshore: Over the past week the weather gods turned on a few prime days for offshore fishing. Lots of Spotty Mackerel were reported around the closer reefs, along with a good mix of reef fish. Catches of Amberjack and Kingfish were reported at the Hards, while Tuskfish and Hussar made up the catches at the Barwon Banks.
Estuaries: Fishing has been pretty tough going over the past week due to the weather. We’ve had reports of a few nice Flathead caught in the Bli Bli stretch, with some Whiting still being caught at the mouth. The water in the Maroochy River is still brackish, making it tough for even the most persistent fisho.
The Noosa River has also suffered from recent poor weather, with many a donut day reported. A few Bream and Flathead have still been caught, but like the Maroochy it’s been pretty tough going.

We’ve had reports of a few Flathead and Bream catches at Caloundra, but it’s also been a quiet week for fishing there.
Freshwater: Fishing remains subdued post-flood, with the Mary River and adjacent creeks still stabilising. High waters and reduced visibility persist, limiting angling success. We expect a gradual improvement as conditions clear, but a full rebound will take time.
As always, keep informed by checking local conditions before heading out. Live beach worms are back in store this weekend, along with fresh mullet and plenty of frozen bait. If you prefer lures, drop in and see us for some local tips on what gets the job done in our local fishing spots.
