One of Australia’s Big Four banks has established a presence in the expanding Maroochydore city centre.

National Australia Bank is the latest high-profile company to develop a foothold in the CBD, which is a fast-growing hub for business and innovation.

NAB has moved into the state-of-the-art business banking workspace in the award-winning Evans Long building, A1.

It follows the recent addition of global software company Maropost, which relocated a significant part of its business to A1 after acquiring long-standing Sunshine Coast tech company Retail Express.

Sujay Singh, from Evans Long, said the company was delighted to welcome the 60 staff from NAB’s regional and agribusiness, small business, private and wealth bankers and other support functions, who are relocating from their previous Maroochydore facility to Level 3 in A1.

“The bespoke selection of materials reflects our commitment, alongside NAB’s, to create inspiring workspace environments that attract best-in-class talent,” Mr Singh said.

“This high-quality fit-out aligns with A1’s status as an A-grade commercial asset and the preferred choice for forward-thinking businesses.”

NAB staff members’ new home.

NAB’s Queensland state business banking executive for regional and agribusiness Alison Blanshard said this was the bank’s latest investment in Queensland’s south-east.

“We’re excited to have relocated to a brand new, state-of-the-art facility in a prime location within the new CBD of Maroochydore,” she said.

“NAB has a long history serving customers in the area, from Morayfield in the south to Gympie in the north.

“This multimillion-dollar investment gives us an even greater presence in the community, while allowing our team of bankers to continue supporting our business customers.”

NAB now has a presence in A1, within the Maroochydore city centre.

SunCentral Maroochydore CEO Amanda Yeates said the past 12 months had seen continued growth in city centre, with more to come.

“Our innovative infrastructure, strategic location and commitment to sustainability help position the Sunshine Coast as a resilient economy and a magnet for businesses and talent alike,” she said.

“As Maroochydore city centre continues to grow, so too will the opportunities for residents, businesses and visitors.

“By 2027, there will be more than 1000 people living in Maroochydore city centre, along with 3000 workers, creating a vibrant hub of commercial and cultural activity, underpinned by outstanding liveability, technology and innovation.”

The city centre is slated to deliver 15,000 jobs and generate more than $3 billion in economic benefits over its lifespan.
