This weekend looks like being awesome for swimmers but not so good for surfers.

The swell is expected to only be knee-high and predominantly from the east so all beaches will have good swimming conditions.

Light breezes from the east, will turn north-easterly later in the weekend and also are not expected to have much impact. Conditions should be glassy especially early in the mornings.

The calm conditions should make for the perfect opportunity to hit the water to cool off with warm temperatures up to 30C forecast across the weekend.

Remember to use plenty of sunscreen with UV rating still in the extreme category throughout the middle part of the day.

Mooloolaba Beach is also set to be busy this weekend playing host to the annual Mooloolaba Triathlon festival.

Normal lifesaving patrols will still be running if it’s your local and you’re looking for a swim, but check out the festival schedule.

Lifesavers from Mooloolaba SLSC will be out in force providing water safety for the swim legs in additional to their normal patrol duties.

Many of our best up and coming surf lifesavers will be heading off to the Gold Coast this weekend to complete in the Queensland Youth State Championships at North Kirra Beach.

Best of luck to all our Sunshine Coast clubs and competitors and we hope to see plenty of medals heading back north!

Some of the action will be live streamed through SLSQ’s Facebook page so click through if you want to check it out http://www.facebook.com/lifesavingqld

Have a great weekend and, as always, make sure you only swim between the flags!
