A new hybrid health studio which embraces yin-and-yang philosophies of training the body and mind has opened in Foundation Place within the new Maroochydore CBD.

Flowst8 studios is the brainchild of Sunshine Coast local Dave Nelson who has previously run the training program online.

But the opportunity to move into a new purpose-built studio within the Maroochydore CBD was an opportunity he could not pass up.

It’s believed to be the first health studio in south-east Queensland which has rooftop classes.

“We definitely wanted to be in a prime location within the new CBD,” Mr Nelson said.

“We want to be a part of this growth and Foundation Place has such a good vibe particularly the rooftop area which is ideal for our sunrise and sunset classes.”

The training philosophy of Flowst8 studios incorporates a mix of mind and body exercises such as breathing, yoga, mindfulness as well as weight-based training in group sessions of either 45 or 60 minutes.

Rooftop classes are being held at Maroochydore.

“Some of the world’s leading athletes including NFL superstar Tom Brady, basketball legend LeBron James, surfer Kelly Slater and tennis greats Roger Federer and Serena Williams all embrace this type of training,” Mr Nelson said.

“There’s no doubt that the reason they are all performing at their optimum level well into their 30s is due to the way they have embraced mind and body training,” he said.

“As most people can’t train the same long hours of professional athletes, we’ve been able to create a program which incorporates these methods into 45 and 60 minute group training sessions.”

Flowst8 training is suitable for both men and women and classes are limited to 24 people to ensure all participants have the required attention from the fully qualified trainers.

Yin principles include meditation, breathwork, yoga, mobility while Yang principles cover functional training, sports conditioning.
