The owners of a Noosaville restaurant have flagged that it is well and truly open after a restaurant of similar name and cuisine shut its doors.

Andrea and Keri Ravezzani, the owners of Noosa Waterfront Restaurant and Bar at Noosaville, are trying to clear up confusion about the status of their business.

Mr Ravezzani said the confusion had arisen since Noosa Italian Restaurant and Pizza at the Noosa Marina, Tewantin, closed its doors in April.

He said some people were confused because both restaurants had Noosa in their name, were on the water and served Italian food – but that was where the similarities ended and there was no relationship between the two businesses.

“We’re fine dining and they were more a pizzeria,” he said.

The Ravezzanis have owned Noosa Waterfront Restaurant and Bar for more than nine years but the restaurant has existed for more than 20 years.

Mr Ravezzani said the confusion about the restaurant’s status came to their attention when visitors to his wife’s workplace made comment.

“They said, ‘We thought you were closed,” he said.

Noosa Waterfront Restaurant and Bar owner Andrea Ravezzani wants to emphasise the restaurant is definitely open.

He said the consequences of the confusion had the potential to undo a decade’s work.

“It’s terrifying because it can affect the viability of the business,” he said.

The closure of Noosa Italian Restaurant and Pizza at the marina surprised many of its followers.

A post on the restaurant’s Facebook page on April 29 said it would be closed for two weeks’ holiday and to “stay tuned for updates”, but there have been none.

The premises at 18/2 Parkyn Parade, Tewantin, were seen listed for rent online during that period and are still listed for rent.

Attempts by Sunshine Coast News to contact the Noosa Italian Restaurant and Pizza phone number and Facebook Messenger account, and with someone connected with the restaurant, have been unsuccessful.

Noosa Waterfront Restaurant and Bar, at 143 Gympie Terrace, Noosaville, is still open the usual hours: for dinner on Wednesdays through to Sundays from 5.30pm, and for lunch from Friday to Sunday from noon.
