Two local accountancy businesses with strong Coast links are merging, creating one of the region’s largest financial planning firms.

Yield Advisory, which has an office at the A1 Building in Maroochydore, has completed the merger with the highly regarded Focus Professional Group, based at Cotton Tree.

Employees from Focus Professional Group will relocate to Yield Advisory’s office, which will be home to the majority of the firm’s 40 team members.

Focus Professional Group was established in 1998 by Allen Hertel and has built a reputation as a leader in taxation planning, business structuring and self-managed super funds.

Mr Hertel said he felt there was significant synergy between both firms and this played an important role in his decision to merge.

“When considering the merger I had to put my team and our clients at the centre of my decision,” he said.

“The more I looked, the more I saw how similar we were in terms of providing a proactive approach to servicing clients in order to meet their long-term objectives.

“Our culture and values are also very similar so I believe it will be an easy transition for my team to make and I am sure our clients will benefit from our extended ability as a larger team to continue to provide proactive advice from our highly professional team.”

Yield Advisory managing director Lachlan Ballinger said his firm’s acquisition of Focus Professional Group would benefit clients.

“Allen has been a highly respected member of our industry for many years,” he said.

“He’s built a highly successful firm including not only an incredibly talented team but also attracted some amazing long-term clients.

“He has achieved all of this whilst maintaining his commitment to the region through his various board positions and community partnerships.

“The growth of Yield Advisory over the past 10 years has been significant and based on organic growth measures.

“Our overall business strategy in the Brisbane, Sydney and Sunshine Coast markets is to align with the right firms in each geographic location and this was the case in Focus Professional Group.

“Our footprint and prowess on the Sunshine Coast have been strengthened and we look forward to better servicing the region.”
