Six properties worth almost a combined $6.4 million have been sold at a premier auction event.
More than 80 people attended, and more than 250 people tuned in online, to Ray White Maroochydore’s Auctions at Altitude, held at the Altitude Nine Function Centre atop the Sunshine Coast City Hall.
A desire for quality high-grade homes on the Coast was highlighted at the event, with six out of 10 properties selling under the hammer.
Agency director and auctioneer Dan Sowden said there was plenty of interest in the homes.
“Despite the rise of interest rates, bidders were committed and well prepared to compete for some of the unique properties offered in the collection that featured a total of 244 buyer inspections conducted in the lead-up,” he said.
Ray White Maroochydore’s Niall Molloy and Ari Whisson continued their streak of auction sales.
The sales agents have sold 15 from 15 under the hammer this year, with the latest sale of 31 Meridien Drive, Maroochydore, for $1.86 million to local buyers.
The waterfront home had the attention of two determined buyers.
The opening bid was placed at $1.7 million and quickly moved to $1.8 million before the auction was paused. The bid was raised under negotiation to $1.86 million before the property was called on the market and sold for $1.86 million.
Mr Molloy said people from around Australia had an eye on the home.
“We observed significant local interest in this property, as well as a variety of Noosa, Peregian and interstate buyers,” he said.
“The waterfront view was a major attraction, but many were particularly drawn to the combination of house size, spaciousness and the low-maintenance, apartment-like living.
“It was encouraging to see, even with many waterfront options available, the auction motivated buyers to act decisively and present their best offers.
“The couple who bought the home had recently relocated from Brisbane and were in an apartment until they found their dream home.”
Another anticipated sale was the last auction, for 98 Bundilla Boulevard at Mountain Creek.
Positioned on an oversized parcel of 1000sqm in close proximity to Mooloolaba, the three-bedroom, one-bathroom home was a popular option for many.
The eventual buyers, a first home buyer couple who were overjoyed, snapped it up for $820,000 under strong competition.
