Heavy metal guns The Amity Affliction, global sensation Tones and I, and hip hop trio Bliss n Eso are the big names heading this year’s Big Pineapple Music Festival.

The festival, returning on October 19 after a three-year hiatus, is being billed as “an unforgettable day of live music, delicious food and vibrant experiences”.

Presented by Triple J, the festival promises some of Australia’s most celebrated artists as well as local names.

The festival will be a rare live performance not far from home for The Amity Affliction, which formed in Gympie.

Tones and I, known for her worldwide break-out hit Dance Monkey, will be back on the Big Pineapple Festival stage for the first time since 2019, while Bliss n Eso, will bring a touch of nostalgia for those who were at the Pineapple for the festival’s early years.

Tones and I, best known for Dance Monkey, will appear at the Big Pineapple Music Festival.

Electronic producer of haunting beats and high-energy shows Golden Features, electro pop duo Peking Duk and Vera Blue, an indie-pop favourite with an ethereal voice and emotionally charged performances, will round out the headliners.

Also joining the line-up will be Thornhill, Dune Rats (DJ set), The Dreggs, Drax Project, SLUMBERJACK, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Ocean Grove, Kinder, South Summit, No Money Enterprise, Day We Ran, Betty Taylor, Toby Hobart, Hellcat Speedracer, Raw Ordio, Ishan, Larynx, Karlou, Rhino, Tess Fapani, Earth Sign,  and the yet-to-be unearthed Triple J Unearthed winner.

The return of the festival follows the re-opening of the restored Big Pineapple only last month.

The festival is supported by the Sunshine Coast Council, Arts Queensland and Tourism and Events Queensland.

Michael Healy, Minister for Tourism and Sport, expressed his for the festival’s return to the events calendar.

“The Queensland Government is proud to support the festival as part of our commitment to a strong local events program, particularly at a time when the sector has been struggling,” Mr Healy said.

“The festival also provides Queensland and Australian acts the opportunity to perform at the iconic Big Pineapple Fields on the Sunshine Coast, helping also to sustain artists and the local supply chains.”

Sunshine Coast mayor Rosanna Natoli also shared her enthusiasm for the event.

“This is a spectacular event and drawcard for festivalgoers to come to the Sunshine Coast,” mayor Natoli said.

Bliss n Eso will be back on the Big Pineapple Music Festival stage.

New experiences on offer will include the World Eats and Beats area, a culinary and musical adventure with exotic foods and tunes from around the globe, and there will be a lantern parade at nightfall.

There will be prizes for best dressed solo and team, some of the country’s best skaters will showcase their skills in a skate jam, and Burlesque L’Amore will make their festival debut.

Festivalgoers can compete, possibly against some familiar faces, for the chance to win $500 cash, a trophy and other prizes in the Great Australian Pineapple Toss, officiated by Member for Nicklin Rob Skelton.

Tickets will start at $139.50 on pre-sale from this Wednesday, rising to $145 for first release from Thursday, $150 in the second release, and $160 in the final release.

Music lovers can sign-up for pre-sale tickets from today.

Camping will be available at $50 for two nights on pre-sale or $60 afterwards, excluding booking fee and festival entry.

There will also be the option of park’n’ride for those who prefer their home comforts.
