An elegant home with expansive views has been hailed at the Sunshine Coast 2024 Housing and Construction Awards.
T2 Building Group claimed the Xact Accounting House of the Year Award for its coastal masterpiece, Whipbird.
The Doonan beauty was also named the Best Individual Home $5 million to $10 million.
A Master Builders Queensland media release outlined why the residence was judged so highly.
“Brutalist in style, yet elegantly simple in its T-shaped pavilion form, Whipbird is a home that embraces a deeply poetic response to its environs,” it stated.
“Taking in the sweeping coastal and Noosa hinterland views, the design fosters a close and meaningful relationship between its inhabitants and the unique natural surroundings.
“Featuring two distinctive wings, split across two levels, the five-bedroom, entertainer’s delight showcases a passion and respect for quality materials and finishes, resulting in a functional home offering both comfort and space.”
There were multiple awards presented at the event, at Novotel Twin Waters Resort.
Mosaic Construction won the Bathersby Legal Project of the Year and Residential Building (high-rise over three storeys) from $20 million up to $50 million awards for the exclusive multi-residential Lorient by Mosaic. Aspen Stone Construction was named Commercial Trade Contractor of the Year for its seamless work on the Maroochy River build.
Rounding out the major awards, Reed & Co Homes was celebrated with the BUSSQ Building Super President’s Award for the luxurious Bells Residence at Pelican Waters.
In the individual category, OneLife Property Group co-founder and joint director Rebecca Clatworthy won the prestigious Women in Building Award.
Ms Clatworthy and team also celebrated taking out Medium Density up to three storeys over five dwellings for the coastal-inspired Caloundra masterpiece OneLife on Queen.
The Apprentice of the Year Award honoured proactive and reliable team player Patrick Hagedoorn from Merkara Homes, while renowned custom-home builder Joseph Thomsen was named Rising Star.
Also making it two for two this year was Envi Construction with the Samios Projects Best Residential Bathroom and Individual Home from $2 million up to $2.5 million awards for Peregian Springs beauty Bronze Wing; and Hampton Homes Australia with Best Residential Swimming Pool and Individual Home over $10 million awards for the endless summer on offer with its build, Sunshine Beach.
Master Builders Sunshine Coast regional manager Nicola Scott congratulated the winners across 52 categories.
“The last 12 months have thrown plenty of challenges our way but as we know, our industry is nothing if not resilient – and this year’s entries have raised the bar once again,” she said.
“From breathtaking family builds and renovations and luxurious multi-residential living to fabulous entertainment and tourism destinations, as well as essential education, sporting and wellness facilities, each project, as well as our individual winners, have contributed something really special to our region, bolstering it for the future.
“Our judging panels were thrilled with the level of craftsmanship, ingenuity, and passion for the industry, which made selecting the winners a tough but fantastic job.
