Four people have been charged with several property and unlawful use of motor vehicle offences, after police tracked an allegedly stolen vehicle between North Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast on Thursday.
It will be alleged that they were involved in the theft of a Jeep Cherokee from an address in Everton Park at about 8am.
Just before 2pm, police located the vehicle on Corrie Street in Chermside, where three people, a 19-year-old man, 18-year-old woman and 17-year-old male, were taken into custody.
The fourth person, a 25-year-old man, allegedly then broke into a nearby address and assaulted the male occupant before stealing a blue Holden Commodore.
The victim, in his 40s, received non-life threatening injuries during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The Commodore was tracked by Polair and was allegedly seen driving dangerously between Chermside and the Sunshine Coast, before it eventually stopped on the Bruce Highway southbound at Beerburrum at about 5.30pm.
The driver left the scene on foot, before police dog Stryker tracked him through bushland and he was arrested a short distance away.
A 25-year-old Cherbourg man has been charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count each of enter dwelling with intent to commit indictable offence, robbery with actual violence whilst armed, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving whilst disqualified, possess dangerous drug, possess knife in public place and obstruct police. He has been refused police bail and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 23.
A 19-year-old Acacia Ridge man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, serious assault of a police officer, enter dwelling and commit, receiving tainted property and stealing. He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 23.
An 18-year-old Cherbourg woman has been charged with enter dwelling and commit, receiving tainted property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing. She is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 23.
A 17-year-old Acacia Ridge male has been charged with enter dwelling and commit, receiving tainted property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing. He is expected to appear before Brisbane Children’s Court on August 23.
Investigations are ongoing and detectives expect further charges may be laid.
