A Sunshine Coast hub is set to become home to regular moonlight markets and other sweet events filled to the brim with entertainment and street food.

The Maroochydore Moonlight Markets will feature live music, artisan stalls and gourmet street eats alongside a local craft beer and cocktail bar from the City Lights Bar.

Beginning on Saturday, September 28, the bi-monthly markets will take place within the Maroochydore City Centre green space known as The Met.

The space will also see the launch of other regular activities, including the Sweet Treat Thursday night markets.

Walker director and group executive of development, Peter Saba, said the markets will be a vibrant addition to the new city centre.

“There is a great atmosphere growing in the Maroochydore City Centre, which is bringing families, workers, friends and visitors together to enjoy our restaurants, cafes, shops, and culture,” Mr Saba said.

“We’re excited to bring live music and a night time economy to the heart of the city as part of a new series of free community events at the MET, starting with the Maroochydore Moonlight Markets.

“We’re proud to partner with a range of local organisations, residents and stakeholder groups to showcase some of the best food, craft beer, hospitality and entertainment the region has to offer.”

Sweet Treat Thursday will be the region’s first dedicated dessert market and is being described as a “must-visit” for anyone who enjoys a sugar fix or a sweet treat.

The mid-week treat will offer gourmet doughnuts, artisan chocolates, cakes ice cream and more.

The Moonlight Markets will be held on the first and third Saturday of the month from 4pm to 8pm.

Sweet Treat Thursdays will take place from 4pm to 8pm every Thursday evening.
