A charming and elegant 138-year-old home with incredible vistas is set to go under the hammer.
The immaculately maintained Queenslander at 599 Mountain View Road, Wootha, will be auctioned on Saturday.
Set on 12.08ha, the impressive property also features a separate cottage, successfully run as popular holiday accommodation destination, Half Moon Hideaway, and is licensed to be used as a wedding venue.
RE/MAX Hinterland’s selling agent Michael Reck said the property is one of a kind.
“We believe it to be one of, if not, the oldest houses in Maleny,” he said.
“Originally built in 1886, it was relocated to Maleny in 2003 by its current owners who have immaculately cared for the property, with thoughtful reconfiguration to really make the most of the stunning location and views.”
The four-bedroom, three-bathroom residence has the integrity of the home’s original character and it has stunning views of the Glass House Mountains.
The house has wide hoop pine floors and towering ceilings, connecting the detail of the past with comforts and style of modern day living.
The property is set in lush rainforest.
It also features a horse arena, stables. large shed, grazing paddock and in-ground saltwater pool.
The two-bedroom cottage is currently run as a holiday accommodation destination.
“New owners will benefit from the versatility of the cottage, with the potential to generate additional income, or simply enjoy hosting family and friends,” Mr Reck said.
The house was built by Dr Henry Croker-Garde in Maryborough in 1886.
It is understood it was built for Dr Garde’s family and was located in John Street.
The home held various uses. It served as the family home and nurses’ quarters. Dr Garde’s nephew, a doctor, also practiced out of the property for a number of years.
It was later relocated to Hervey Bay.
In 2003, the property was purchased by its current owner and moved it to Wootha.
RE/MAX Hinterland stated that the owner said she found the original house in beautiful condition and it exuded charm, comfort and grandeur.
The agency stated that the owner said the house’s relocation down the winding driveway off Mountain View Road was “a sight to see” as it was positioned overlooking the Glass House Mountains.
The auction will be held on site on Saturday at 4pm.
