Two Sunshine Coast parks have been acknowledged with a prestigious award for the second year running.
Buderim Village Park and Kings Beach Park and Community Precinct were recognised with the Green Flag Award.
The award is a global benchmark for excellence in park management and celebrates well-maintained, sustainable spaces that enrich communities.
Both parks retained the accolades awarded to them last year, cementing their reputation as standout destinations for locals and visitors.
Buderim Village Park earned praise for its expansive views, family-friendly spaces and vibrant community events.
Parkgoers can enjoy picnics on lush green lawns and quiet moments in the park’s gardens.
Sunshine Coast councillor Ted Hungerford said the park was a picnic and playground favourite and deserved to be recognised for its manicured parkland and gardens.
“This award reflects the care and commitment that goes into maintaining these parks our community can be proud of,” he said.
“It’s wonderful to see these spaces so well loved and enjoyed.”
Kings Beach Park and Community Precinct is renowned for its seaside charm.
It integrates natural beauty with top-tier facilities.
Its splash play, multiple playgrounds, ocean pool, amphitheatre and coastal pathways make it a beacon for recreation, relaxation and entertainment.
Sunshine Coast councillor Terry Landsberg was delighted to see the area acknowledged.
“It’s an honour to see Kings Beach Park and Community Precinct once again recognised on the world stage and highlight the important role green spaces like this play in supporting community wellbeing, tourism and environmental sustainability,” he said.
The Sunshine Coast has 1180 recreation parks and open spaces, 374 playgrounds, 74 basketball courts, 56 exercise equipment nodes in parks, 46 dog exercise areas, 29 skate parks, 1338 shelters, 370 drinking fountains, 324 barbecues, 196 public amenities, and178 showers.
