From jumping out of a plane to landing her new appointment at Travis Schultz & Partners, Rebecca Thomas is not afraid of a challenge, especially when it comes to fighting for people’s rights.

After moving from the UK in 2008, the senior solicitor has established herself as a leader on the Sunshine Coast with more than 12 years’ experience in plaintiff compensation law.

Chief Operating Officer at Travis Schultz & Partners, Kelly Phelps, said she was delighted to welcome Rebecca Thomas to the team and believed her compassionate approach would fit in perfectly with the firm’s culture.

“Rebecca has a wealth of experience managing a mixed portfolio of Worker’s Compensation, Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA) and claims relating to the Personal Injuries Proceedings Act (PIPA),” Ms Phelps said.

“She has a reputation for seeing cases through, spending quality time with clients, guiding them carefully through the claim process and then achieving a great outcome for them.

“While Rebecca’s work ethic is second-to-none, we believe her considered, honest and client-centric approach makes her a perfect fit for our team.”

“We are excited to welcome Rebecca to the TSP family and we know she will work hard to ensure our clients are given a fighting chance.”

With experience in managerial positions across North Queensland and the Sunshine Coast, Rebecca Thomas said she was really happy to have joined the TSP team.

“TSP has a strong reputation for having a community conscience and they genuinely care about the people they support, which was a big drawcard for me,” Ms Thomas said.

“When I left uni, my first job was working with a personal injury firm in the UK and I didn’t know what to expect at first. What I found out very quickly was that it’s all about helping injured people and my caring nature has been drawn to opportunities to do this ever since.”

“I like to travel the journey with a client, listen to their story and really get to know them. This helps me to give personalised advice and guidance for their future.”

Ms Thomas said she was also extremely passionate about mentoring junior team members.

“Exceptional client service all starts from the moment a client calls us or walks in the door and working closely with our reception, administration, para-legal and junior members of the team helps them to understand the case. This ensures we achieve better outcomes for our clients and it provides opportunities for the professional development of all team members,” Ms Thomas said.

Ms Phelps said TSP had a strong focus on people and handpicked team members with both expertise and big hearts.

“We often talk about selecting people by attitude over aptitude. Finding smart people is important but what’s even more important for us is to find people that are the right fit for our culture,” Ms Phelps said.

“We foster a team that shares values, are driven to work towards a common mission and are generally nice people to be around. We strive to cultivate a positive culture and take care of our team because a happy team ensures happy clients.”
