Sunshinecoastnews.com.au has found the most property-obsessed person to provide readers with weekly insights into the local auction market.

Gordon Macdonald, founder of The Auction Group, has been calling auctions on the Coast for more than a decade after an earlier career in real estate sales.

His weekly auction wrap-up for sunshinecoastnews.com.au each Monday will be compulsory reading for anyone interested in the hottest sales and latest tales from the property frontline.

“I will give market insight and reveal what’s happening behind the curtain on auction day” said Mr Macdonald.

“I will give up-to-the minute auction results through the eyes of an auctioneer.”

Gordon Macdonald, 39, handles the bulk of auctions on the Sunshine Coast and is a firm believer in the importance of auctions in the industry.

After a successful stint in property sales, he moved into the action-packed world of auctioneering “for the love of it”.

“For me I love the ability to influence more people because in one weekend I could be dealing with ten vendors and 50 buyers whereas real estate agents are more intimate with a smaller number of people,” he said.

Gordon, who tenaciously negotiates complex deals, relishes being an independent third-party “that people can trust”.

“At a core level I want to get the deal done with the very best possible price and give people a fair opportunity through a process they can touch and feel,” he said.

As for his auctioneering style?

“I keep it as real as possible. I understand people may only transact at auction once in their lives so we keep it relaxed, open and easy.”

When he’s not energising bidders and crafting deals, Gordon spends his spare time indulging his other passion – more property!

“I’m property obsessed. I basically finish my work day and scroll through realestate.com.au or I’m renovating a house; I’m always doing something property wise,” he said.

“I love the wealth creation aspect of property, I like the real tangible asset that is property and it’s such an important part of people’s lives.

“And I love when a family moves to the Coast from a capital city that I’m on the frontline meeting new people and welcoming them to the community.

“I think it’s an important role.”

Gordon Macdonald’s wrap-up of Sunshine Coast auctions will be part of sunshinecoastnews.com.au’s FREE Monday news feed emailed directly to subscribers. Don’t miss it!
