The Celebration of Swing

The Celebration of Swing big band concert, starring John Morrison’s Swing City, will take audiences on a musical journey through the history of the American big band swing era in the early 1940s. This concert spectacular will feature 15 Australian musicians and singers, plus showcase two esteemed singers, Gregg Arthur and Jacki Cooper, and Sydney’s top instrumental jazz soloists. The concert’s repertoire will highlight the greatest Big Band hits of the 1940s, featuring the music of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Benny Goodman, Count Basie and more.

Sunshine Coast Wildflower Festival

The Sunshine Coast Wildflower Festival is an annual spring event to celebrate the beautiful display of wildflowers on the Sunshine Coast. Francis Atkins and Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra

Francis Atkins, a ferocious young piano virtuoso from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, is joining the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra for the famous Rachmaninov Piano Concert No. 2. Founded by the late Olive Frame in 1972, the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra is the leading local symphony orchestra, and consists of 50 highly trained, passionate musicians. Led by Adrian King, the orchestra believes in providing exciting, accessible music of all periods, in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. The orchestra will play other melodic masterpieces from the Russian composers Prokofiev, Tchaikovsky, and Rimsky-Korsakov.
