The Mooloolaba State School community is celebrating after their talented girls AFL team defended a state title.
The side won the primary girls competition at the AFLQ Schools Cup, defeating Holland Park State School 6.3 (39) to 0.2 (2), at Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex.
Millie Murray was again judged best on ground for the game, which was part of an action-packed three-day carnival that featured almost 50 games.
Hundreds of players from around Queensland converged on the precinct from Friday to Sunday, to contest the finals for six divisions of the state-wide competition.
Palm Beach Currumbin State High School had a carnival to remember, winning three of the four secondary school titles.
More than 12,000 participants took part in this year’s StreetSmarts AFLQ Schools Cup, from a record breaking 608 teams, making it the competition’s biggest year yet.
Twenty-seven teams qualified for the weekend’s finals.
