A special program run by one of the NRL’s glamour clubs is back in action helping young people to be active and discover the lifelong benefits of team sport.
The Brisbane Broncos have hit the ground running with their Sunshine Coast Community Game Development Program in 2022, with former player Jack Reed at the helm.
Local company Campbell Construction Co. has backed the initiative, which is now in its seventh year.
Company owner Ben Campbell said he and his wife Sara were passionate about being involved in activities that supported young people and their families.
“Having always been involved with football, I enjoy the camaraderie and mateship you get out of participating in a team sport,” he said.
“This program goes beyond rugby league. It encourages students to be active, healthy people, both mentally and physically, as well as helping them deal with life’s setbacks and distractions.”

The program, which has gained more interest and support each year, was designed to foster valuable life skills and respect within our younger generations.
The initiative visits about 50 schools annually, supports local rugby league clubs, hosts regular holiday clinics and works with charity SunnyKids as part of the ‘Mentoring Through Sports’ program.
Mr Reed has also facilitated community programs such as the annual ‘Broncos on the Beach’, thanks to major partner The Surf Club Mooloolaba.
