It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas with a host of stellar events across the Sunshine Coast set to pack our social calendars in November.
From rugby to disc-golf, bowling and canoeing, plus cabaret, the arts, comedy and a free family-friendly festival, the diverse range of activities has something for everyone.
This weekend, Beach Rugby Australia will take over a section of the Mooloolaba sands for the Beach 5s rugby – a sporting spectacle for locals and visitors to enjoy.
Sumptuous seafood, sand sculptures, magical mermaids, live music and sea-inspired displays will feature among the many highlights for the Mooloolaba Foreshore Festival to celebrate the fresh new Northern Parkland.
Mooloolaba Esplanade will transform with oceans of free family-friendly fun on Saturday, November 5, from 10am-9pm.
Sunshine Coast Division 4 Councillor Joe Natoli said that aside from one of the best beaches in the world, Mooloolaba offered a hub for eating, shopping and dining every day of the week.

“Mooloolaba is the place to be, and with community and sporting events over the weekend, it really comes alive,” he said.
Visitors to Mooloolaba are encouraged to catch public transport, cycle, scoot or walk to the event or park at the Mooloolaba Central ParknGo for $5 all day, accessible via Brisbane Road or Smith Street.
Spending $30 or more in Mooloolaba will translate into free parking through a new validation offer.
Suncity Bowl will be busy with the International Bowling Federation presenting the Para Bowling World Cup from November 3-10, and the IBF World Cup from November 11-23.
Held in partnership with the State Government and Sunshine Coast Council, the event is estimated to attract 1700 visitors.
Sunshine Coast Council Economy Portfolio Councillor Jason O’Pray said sporting events did really well in terms of participants and numbers. The Ironman 70.3 in September, for example, sold out this year.

“Our cultural events are really important to the community, and to ensure they continue to be offered in the future, it’s important people support them,” Cr O’Pray said.
“What would really help our local businesses and event organisers is for people to make that decision early, and essentially invest in the event.
“We need to move away from the ‘last-minute’ culture when it comes to buying tickets for events, so event organisers can gauge product and service levels needed to put on a great event.”
The Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival has a series of shows from November 10-13.
An opening night extravaganza at NightQuarter (Birtinya) will be followed by shows at Brouhaha (Aura), The Events Centre (Caloundra), The Imperial Hotel (Eumundi), The Power Boat Club (Golden Beach), Solbar and The Nautical (Maroochydore), and Your Mates (Warana).
If you need a good chortle, two Laughable competition heats are on Saturday, November 12, from 2pm at Peace Run Records in Queen Street, Nambour, and at The Imperial Hotel, Eumundi.
Sunshine Coast Stadium in Bokarina offers a variety of events including its first Stadium Cabaret, which will bring together two worlds of drag and cabaret on November 12 (this is an 18+ event).
This will be followed by a night of action-packed family fun on November 26 with the Monster Thrillmasters Spectacular, and STEPS’ special Christmas Party for young people living with a disability and autism on November 27.
The 12th annual Sculpture on the Edge, hosted by Arts Connect Inc, will be on display at Flaxton Gardens.
Look, see and think on more than 80 pieces in the exhibition, while also taking in breathtaking views from the venue.
The free exhibition is open to the community every day from November 20 to December 4, between 9am and 3pm.
Disc golf is a growing sport in Australia, and the sold-out Australian Disc Golf Championships 2022 – with 192 participants – will take place at Landsborough from November 18-20.
Instead of a ball and clubs, players use a flying disc (or frisbee) and, much like the traditional sport, the object of disc golf is to complete each hole in the fewest number of strokes (or, in this case, throws).
Spectator tickets are from $5.
