Aussie World events 

Kicking off this summer at Aussie World, All Wrapped Up will be held in The Shed (Dec 10), offering visitors a festive extravaganza with theme park entry, eats from world-class chefs and live entertainment. Christmas Spectacular (Dec 17) is the party you’ve been waiting for with the chance to meet Santa, enjoy carollers and dance, sing and join in the festive spirit. And Aussie World’s 33rd year will wrap up with a bang at Ride the Night New Year’s Eve (Dec 31), complete with rides, fireworks and roaming entertainment.

Spicers’ Taittinger High Tea

Season and Spirit 

Join Riverbend Ensemble as the musicians celebrate the season – summer and Advent – with beautiful string music including Vivaldi’s “Summer Concerto”, “Fantasia on Greensleeves” by Vaughan Williams, Bach’s “Brandenburg Concerto No. 3” and “String Quintet in C Major” by Mozart, plus some great carol arrangements. They will be joined by multi-instrumentalist and Baroque specialist Shannon Luk.

All Access Day at the Beach

Come along for a tide of good fun for the second annual All Access Day at the Beach and celebrate International Day of People with Disability. Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson said council was proud to partner with Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club and members of the disability sector to bring such a special event to our community. “The afternoon will be one for the whole family to enjoy with all-abilities activities on the beach and in the park, access mats, beach wheelchairs, Mooloolaba Starfish Nippers, an afternoon barbecue and entertainment to get everyone involved. A sensory tent will also be available on the day, as we acknowledge that some members of the community need a safe space to retreat between the festivities.”

Where: Mooloolaba Beach (In front of Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Surf Club and in Arthur Parkyn Park).

When: Friday, December 2, 2pm to 6.30pm.

Summer of Seals

It’s the Summer of Seals at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium. The Mooloolaba attraction is celebrating the much-loved marine mammals with a range of school holiday activities for families to enjoy. There will be new interactive opportunities for guests to get involved in the daily seal presentations that families know and love! During the Summer of Seals, presentations will offer guests the chance to get closer than ever before to these powerful pinnipeds. Guests can also take part in a new activity trail, discover fascinating facts at the artefacts table and take photos with the new seal mascot. Guests will also have the opportunity to watch the seals take part in a daily enrichment session, where trainers will encourage the seals to demonstrate new behaviours and interact with new and innovative enrichment items. The Summer of Seals activities are included in the price of admission.

Help plant Seeds of Hope

Join in the Seeds of Hope Tree Planting Event to unite and show support for victims of domestic and family violence.  Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Mark Jamieson said council was proud to partner with Make It Stop for a third year, and help plant 200 native seedlings as an act of solidarity and support for victims of domestic and family violence. “The initiative aims to increase awareness of gender-based violence to promote prevention and give hope to the belief that a world without violence is possible,” he said. “We encourage the community to help raise public awareness of domestic and family violence in our community at the Seeds of Hope Tree Planting morning.

Where: Cotton Tree Conservation Reserve, Beach Access 152, 3 Aerodrome Road, Maroochydore.

When: Wednesday, November 30, 7.30 am to 9am.

Buderim Community Carols

Buderim Community Carols heralds the beginning of Christmas celebrations and this year’s event is set to be better than ever. The evening will be full of opportunities to singalong with performances from the Buderim Mountain State School Choir, Sunshine Coast Youth Orchestra, Buderim Youth Theatre and the Elite Dance Institute. Bring your chairs or rugs and enjoy the Buderim Scout’s sausage sizzle or treats from other community organisations, including fairy floss from the Buderim Foundation, Popcorn from Buderim Mountain State School P&C, baked treats from the Buderim Uniting Church and ice blocks from the Buderim vPalmwoods Heritage Railway team. All these volunteer organisations will be raising funds for their particular charities. Safeflame candles and other fun products will also be available for purchase.

Festive fun for families with autism

The 9th annual STEPS Autism Treehouse Christmas Party is dedicated to creating a safe and festive space for children with a disability or autism. Hosted by STEPS Autism Treehouse, the event will feature an array of water slides, rides, obstacle courses, a petting zoo and a visit from Santa. The exciting activities will take place on two fenced football fields, giving parents that extra peace of mind when their children are roaming between attractions. Everyone is welcome.

Where: Kawana Sports Precinct, 320 Nicklin Way, Bokarina.

Entry: $15 each or $50 for a family of four or $60 for a family of five, via TryBooking.
