UPDATED: Monday, January 23, 6.30am: Paramedics transported a man in his 60s in a stable condition to Buderim Hospital for a suspected snake bite on the leg, reported at a private residence at Buderim at 7.36pm on Sunday.
Monday, January 23, 6.30am: The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight helicopter crew an elderly man to hospital after he was injured in a quad bike crash on Sunday afternoon.
It’s believed the man, in his 70s, had been riding the vehicle on a rural property northeast of Gympie when the crash occurred.
Due to the hilly terrain, local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics treated the patient for several injuries before transporting him to the helicopter.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedic stabilised the man and he was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Sunday, January 22, 6pm: Paramedics were at the scene of a near-drowning reported at Bulcock Beach, Caloundra, at 3.45pm on Sunday.
Saturday, January 21, 6.30pm: A person was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in a stable condition, after a vehicle and motorcycle crash was reported on Neill Road at Mooloolah Valley at 4.07pm.
Saturday, January 21, 7.30am: A church at Buderim has been substantially damaged by a fire on Friday night.
It is understood it is the Lifepointe Baptist Church that has been affected.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said about eight fire crews attended the church on Wises Road about 11.20pm.
About 60 per cent of the structure was involved.
The fire was brought under control by 12.55am on Saturday. It was fully extinguished by 4.30am.
The spokesman said there was “substantial damage to the rear of the premises” and that a fire investigator would attend the scene on Saturday morning.
Police also attended the scene. A spokesperson said the cause of fire was unknown at this stage and investigations were ongoing.
Paramedics responded but no patients required assessment or transport.
Friday, January 20, 6.05pm: A toddler has been airlifted to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, after she ingested a fast-acting glue.
The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical team was tasked to the Gympie region, just after 11am on Friday.
It’s believed the girl had been chewing on the glue tube when it split in her mouth.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics initially treated the patient, before transporting her to a nearby oval where the rescue helicopter landed.
The girl was then airlifted to the hospital, for further assessment.
She was in a stable condition and her mother escorted her in the aircraft.

Friday, January 20, 1pm: A patient was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a vehicle hit a tree at Commissioners Flat Road and Peachester Road, Peachester, at 11.18am on Friday.
Friday, January 20, 1pm: A person was being assessed after a single-vehicle rollover on Cooroy Belli Creek Road, Black Mountain, at 12.07pm on Friday.
Friday, January 20, 1pm: Two people in stable conditions were transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a two-vehicle crash on the Sunshine Coast Motorway at Buderim at 10.19am on Friday.
Friday, January 20, 11am: Planned replenishment of Mooloolaba Beach has resumed after the operation was put on hold during the busy holiday period.
A Sunshine Coast Council spokesperson said: “Council is working with the Queensland Government (Marine Safety Queensland) as part of their project to remove sand from the mouth of the Mooloolah River.
“MSQ has been removing sand from the entrance channel of the Mooloolaba harbour and the surrounding sand shoal for marine safety.
“We will use this sand to restore Mooloolaba beach which has been affected by the erosion that occurred during the severe weather earlier last year. We also want to protect it from any upcoming summer storms.
“There will be some changes to beach access while the work takes place. For your own safety, please follow signage and stick to the pedestrian pathway while the machines are working.”

Friday, January 20, 7:15am: A male teenager was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital stable with back pain following a single-vehicle crash on Steve Irwin Way at Peregian Beach at 11.45pm on Thursday night.
Friday, January 20, 4:20am: A woman was airlifted to hospital by the Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew after she was injured in a two-vehicle crash near Gympie on Thursday.
The crew was tasked to the scene just after 1pm.
The woman had been trapped in her vehicle and had to be freed by Queensland Fire and Emergency Service personnel. Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics and Queensland Police Service officers were also on scene.
The woman, aged in her 30s, was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, with upper body injuries. She was transported in a stable condition.

Thursday, January 19, 3.50pm: A person was taken to Maleny Hospital after a two-vehicle crash on the corner of Woodlands Drive and David Low Way at Peregian Beach at 2.42pm. The person was in a stable condition.
Thursday, January 19, 3.50pm: A person was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in a stable condition, after they were reportedly bitten by a snake at a private address in Sippy Downs at 2.52pm.
Thursday, January 19, noon: Three people have been taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition after a two-vehicle crash at Alexandra Parade, Alexandra Headland, at 10.51am on Thursday.
Thursday, January 19, 6.40am: A male in his 70s was transported in a stable condition to Caboolture Hospital after he sustained a suspected snake bite to his arm at 6.18pm on Wednesday at Bongaree on Bribie Island.
Boat sinks
Wednesday, January 18, 3.30pm: A 13m recreational vessel has sunk in the Maroochy River about a kilometre upstream from the Bli Bli Bridge.
In a statement, Maritime Safety Queensland general manager Kell Dillon said MSQ officers attended the site on Wednesday morning to ensure no pollutants escaped from the vessel into the marine environment.
MSQ also placed a special mark and light at the site to alert mariners to the navigation hazard.
The vessel first came to MSQ attention on January 6 when it was damaged in a collision with the Bli Bli Bridge after appearing to drift anchor.
MSQ also attended then to secure the vessel, ensure there was no pollution and to contact the owner to arrange for its removal.
The vessel was being prepared to leave the river but has now sunk.
MSQ remains in contact with the owner regarding the vessel’s salvage.
The Queensland Police Service is also investigating this matter.
Wednesday, January 18, 3pm: A person was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition after a scooter incident on Lindsay Road, Buderim, at 1.55pm on Wednesday.
Wednesday, January 18, 2pm: A three-metre crocodile has reportedly been spotted lurking near a popular swimming hole on an island off the coast of Brisbane, with authorities looking for evidence of the reptile.
Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service rangers are installing crocodile warning signs in the area of the sighting at Myora Springs, just north of Dunwich on Stradbroke Island, also known as Minjerribah.
Rangers are also sweeping the area in boats and using drones after the crocodile sighting was reported by the local Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation on Wednesday.
Crocodiles aren’t known to frequent such southerly climates, but sea temperatures have topped 26C in southeast Queensland in recent days.
An environment department spokesperson said Minjerribah is an atypical habitat zone for crocodiles, meaning that if one is found there it will be removed from the wild regardless of its size.

Wednesday, January 18, 11am: Queensland will lower its coronavirus alert level to green as the state emerges from its fourth wave of COVID-19.
Acting Premier Steven Miles said the virus alert level would drop after nine weeks of amber-level restrictions under the state’s traffic light system.
People who test positive for COVID still need to self-isolate. Face mask and vaccination mandates remain enforceable in hospitals and disability and other high-risk health settings.

Reported attempted abduction
Tuesday, January 17, 4pm: Police are investigating a reported attempted child abduction at a Buddina shopping centre on Monday.
Police said in a statement: “Initial investigations indicate around 12pm, a woman attempted to get a 10-year-old boy to enter her vehicle but was unsuccessful.
“A report was made to police a short time later, with patrols initially conducted of the area but were unable to locate any persons. Investigators from the Sunshine Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit are aware of the incident and are investigating.”

Tuesday, January 17, 7.50am: A person was transported to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition after a vehicle and motorcycle crash on Parklakes Drive at Bli Bli at 5.48am.
Car rollover
Monday, January 16, 1.40pm: Paramedics were at the scene of a vehicle rollover reported on Peachester Road, Peachester, at 11.22am on Monday. A patient was being assessed at the scene, with a rescue underway.
Police said Peachester Rd near Ocean View Park was blocked both ways following the rollover, with emergency crews on scene. Motorists were advised to avoid the area and to follow any traffic directions given.
The patient was later transported in a stable condition to Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
Monday, January 16, 1.40pm: The Energex website was reporting that power had been restored to all homes on the Sunshine Coast.
Monday, January 16, 11am: A person was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a two-vehicle crash, reported on the Sunshine Motorway southbound at 9.32am. The patient was in a stable condition.
Monday, January 16, 8.10am: More than 680 homes on the Sunshine Coast remained without power after an overnight outage. The cause of the outage was still under investigation, according to the Energex website. The affected homes are in Buddina, Minyama, Parrearra and Warana.
